Overview The BMC-SSD is a software based on Bayesian theory and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulation. It is designed to estimate the parameters of cumulative distribution function (CDF) of species eco-toxicity data (or environmental exposure data), to obtain the parameters and their posterior distribution, and to construct the toxic concentration-species affected probability species sensitivity distribution (SSD), or exposure concentration-cumulative probability distribution. The software can estimate the affected species fraction, namely ecological risk, at a specific exposure concentration of chemical using SSD. It is based on WinBUGS 14 as the kernel computation module, and the interface is developed by MATLAB GUI, which can be used for various people in risk assessment. It is not limited to construct the SSD, but considering the construction of SSD is the purpose of software development, this software entitled BMC-SSD (WinBUGS MATLAB_GUI Calculator of Species Sensitivity Distribution). Figure 1 shows the main function of BMC-SSD, including the main function module, SSD models’ build, optimization, and eco-risk assessment, Joint probability curve build and its eco-risk assessment, and Eco-risk assessment using ExSSD based on Exergy theory.
